My Happy Musing for your day is: If you value exactly what money can't buy, your perspective is priceless. What an odd culture we live in - where the focus on money is so excellent, yet the rewards of cash are so little or from best are fleeting. Of program, money is not an issue for those who have some; whereas, if you do not, it is. I saw a segment upon 60 Minutes one Sunday when a number of young Norwegians had been discussing their lifestyle and comparing it towards the general American lifestyle. They loved a lot of things about America and Americans, but regretted how the focus on material things by Americans was so excellent. This, they noted, caused such anxiety and stress in our people. They approach life in different ways. One young fellow said in essence that for those who have some money and then live your life enjoying your friends and relations that represented success to him or her. That's how he planned to reside. In the U. S., he or she said, success in life
had been equated with financial success. All these young people appeared so relaxed and comfortable this even made me breathe easier just considering it and putting myself in their own place. I saw another show in the center of the night one night -- a Frontline show. Again, there have been several Chinese people who were filmed showing that they live, their life struggles as well as their relationships. One young woman worked inside a factory on an assembly collection, putting so many screws in to some widget. She had to accomplish this task 6, 000 throughout the day. It took her 11 hours to complete it. She worked 7 days per week. She had connected with a man with whom she appeared quite smitten, but she had no illusions that she'd ever do anything in the woman's life but what she had been doing. She had a stunning smile and happy, rising-sun eye. She said that she knew that she'd never have much so she needed to just enjoy the little points in life. What a wise girl. Ther
e were pictures of the woman's holding hands with her boyfriend because they skipped down alleyways and streets stealing just a little pleasure from the apparent drudgery of the lives.
